Fitness in the Real World Part 3: Making Fitness a Family Affair

Fitness in the Real World

We all have a million excuses for why we just cannot seem to stay fit. It may take some commitment to live healthier, but if you are realistic it might be easier than you think. Our biggest advice for maintaining a healthy routine is planning ahead.

family.pngIt is easy to talk the talk but when push comes to shove most people want to take the easy way out. That is why we created this three-part series. We wanted to offer small tips and tricks to incorporating fitness into your day. Part I shared tips for finding time for healthy habits, in Part II we discussed finding fitness where it is convenient for you and breaking free from the gym mentality. Now in Part III, we want to speak to those busy parents who are not only constrained by a busy schedule but also have children in tow.

PART III: Making Fitness a Family Affair

“I cannot get away from my kids long enough to workout.” – Workout with kids!

Parenting is a full-time job. For better or for worse, sometimes we just cannot make time for ourselves exclusively. When it comes to exercise, this is definitely for the better. Having your kids with you while you’re active is a great way to encourage their healthy habits early. There are so many things you can do to stay fit with your kid, best of all; they are mostly things that you enjoyed as a child.

It is important for parents and children to get active, so why not turn it into quality time together. Having kids should never be an excuse to ignore your own fitness. Get out and get involved with your kids!

We have heard all of the excuses, and we are ready to challenge you to find a reason to get out there and stay fit. Find an exercise that is not a burden, but an added benefit to your day. Do not dread your workout; anticipate it in your schedule. Sometimes it is a matter of trial and error, but when you find a way to work fitness into your life, you will be glad that you did. Drop the excuses at the door and plan ahead to get some exercise today. This is the real world; fitness isn’t going to come to you.
